About 2MCE
Community radio
2MCE is both a community service of Charles Sturt and a major teaching/practical training resource for the School of Information and Communication Studies. Students studying communication or any course from across the university can make use of the station's resources for their coursework as well as volunteer to host their own program or assist in the production of others.
Hands-on experience with 2MCE enables students to operate in the radio industry, gaining professional, practical knowledge. Students create and produce stories, segments, specials and regular programs for broadcast. These skills result in highly regarded graduates ready to undertake specialised roles in the communication industry.
Students work alongside our much-valued volunteer station workers, currently numbering around 70. Together, they present a diverse range of programs focussing on the social, cultural, and educational interests of the communities of Bathurst and Orange and Charles Sturt.
A number of our current volunteers were also involved in the first broadcasts in 1976, highlighting the important role community-access radio plays in the lives of many people.
